It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Martha B. Day Elementary School and to join the Bloomingdale school community. I hope that this letter finds you enjoying the relaxing days of summer and that you and your children are looking forward to an amazing school year together in September. I can assure that I share in this community’s commitment to caring for your children each and every day while providing them a high-quality learning environment.

I arrive in Bloomingdale as a seasoned educator and administrator, but in addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a daughter, sister, and aunt. In September, my niece Julia begins eighth grade, my niece Jilly begins sixth grade, and my nephew DJ begins first grade. Both my brother and sister-in-law work in education as well. My father “Pops” is retired and enjoys being a grandpa and volunteering. I look forward to introducing my family to the many wonderful residents that call Bloomingdale “home” in the near future.

The 2022-2023 school year will mark my 23rd year in education. Most recently, I received my doctorate in educational administration from Saint Elizabeth University. Although I have always felt home in the classroom, I have enjoyed my experience as administrator these past eight years. Most recently I served as the Assistant Principal at Roxbury High School. Joining the MBD community provides me the chance to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while remaining connected to the young students learning and growing in the classroom and beyond. I firmly believe that every child can excel and that partnership between home and school builds confidence in students to grow and develop.

My conversations with staff and administration over the past week have provided me with valuable insight into the core beliefs and values that are the foundation to the Bloomingdale School District. With the goal of continuing the tradition of excellence here at MBD, I am committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to more effectively communicate with parents and community members. I will be working closely with parents, students, administration, and staff throughout the year to identify specific goals in the areas of student achievement, school climate, and parent communication. My first meet and greet opportunity will take place on August 16, 2022 from 10-11 am at MBD.
We will serve light refreshments, juice, water, and coffee. Please feel free to stop by to say “hello.”

To our students, I cannot wait to see your smiling faces and meet you all! I hope that you are excited for this coming school year and that you are enjoying the beautiful days of summer. It is going to be a fun year of learning together. If you are near the school at all this summer, please stop by and say hello.

In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. As we work together, to keep our children the primary focus, I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2022-2023 school year. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
