Hello from the Nurses' Office at MBD
My name is Krista Barile, BSN, RN, I am looking forward to working with you and your children throughout the year. The school nurse has the unique opportunity to combine the professions of nursing and education when caring for the children. I have many diverse roles from being a student advocate, to promoting health, to monitoring communicable diseases, to giving the TLC that they all sometimes need.
Your children will be called to the office on several occasions throughout the year. There will be height and weight measurements, blood pressure measurements and hearing and vision screenings. You will be notified if there are any deviations from the standards of the aforementioned screenings. I am always available in the office for the bumps and bruises that occur and also for the emotional support that is often needed throughout the day. A note will be sent home or a phone call made if your child is seen for a significant injury or incident, as I believe open communication is important.
Please be sure to notify the nurse's office if there are any changes in emergency contact information or your child's health, including new medications (even those taken at home). For emergency purposes, we need to know any medications or medical conditions your child has.
